Amy Carlson
Born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy
Carlson spent most of her early life in the Chicago area. Amy was a part of her
family in Chicago while she was in junior high. Her parents, Bob, and Barb
taught at the American School in the Middle East. Amy is the sister Betsy,
Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has backpacked all over Europe with her family and
independently. Since her parents worked as teachers, they were able to travel
together every summer, and camping across the United States. They've camped
across every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy traveled to Rwanda to aid
in efforts to aid in the aftermath of the war in 1994. Amy was an accomplished
actor in school plays and also won writing contests. High school was where she
excelled in athletics taking part in the first ever 3200-meter relay to be held
for girls in Illinois track. After sustaining an injury, she was able to go
back to the stage and take on a variety of roles in plays, including Lanford
Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's film "Aunt Dan and
Lemon". Amy was a Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She
graduated with an B.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on Theater.
After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at
the Improv Olympics as well as acting at The Actor's Center. After graduation,
she was offered a contract job for the no-longer-running soap show Another
World (1964). She was nominated in the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in
Daytime Drama Series" category for Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable
roles included those of strong women such as Alex Taylor (1999), Maggie Pistone
(2000), Katie Owen (2003), and Linda Reagan (2003). Carlson currently lives in
New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and where she
is also the co-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is continuing to write and look
for unique and diverse roles in the world of film.
